Day 7 group work

Each group member should link to and read the workplace etiquette tips on the following three sites. Then the group can discuss any experiences each member has had with others blatantly violating such etiquette in the workplace. Next, discuss in a paragraph (a well-developed paragraph is longer than three sentences!) some of the etiquette violations your group member's have seen or experienced. Put all group member's names on the post. Only one posting (hence one paragraph) is needed per group. Make sure your paragraph has a focus and a topic sentence and that each sentence in the paragraph is a supporting detail. This is a complicated assignment, so show me and the class what you can achieve as a group!

Mickale has experienced a biased work place where the boss showed favoritism towards one person and let them get away with things that you not normally get away with. For instance he was working in a group environment where it takes more than one person to complete the assignment. His partner was very friendly with the boss and was able just to walk off the job, go to the break room and sit down and do nothing all day. Forcing him to try and do all the work, knowing that the work could not be done right. Donald has experienced people not paying attention to the safety issues of the work place. On a job site running gas lines, a co worker was melting a pipe that was supposed to be grounded because if not the gas line could have exploded killing everyone within 50 yard vicinity. He did not ground the pipe still melting the pipe around the gas line, if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of his co worker by stopping the guy melting the pipe preventing the mass explosion. Robert has experienced sexual favors to receive a raise or promotion. He was up for a promotion at work to the facility manager. He was the senior person on the job and knew everything that needed to be known. The girl that got the job instead performed sexual favors for the boss just so that she could get the job and then abuse the powers of the job that came along with it. Gillian experienced work ethics, texting or talking on the phone while on the job. She was a server at a restaurant; food was ready to be taken out to the customers. They were too busy texting or talking on the phone while the food was getting cold forcing her to take her food as well as all the other food that was getting cold. To the customers that were waiting for their food.

The work place

Most people like to be a humble worker, but most people deceive each other just for personal gain. While some one is working just trying to get the work done, someone else would cheat, lie, and steal. I sometimes wonder why people do bad things in the work place. There is no real answer to why people do it; they just want to do what they want to. Some People can be inadequate at the work place.
Darius Futrell, witnessed a man get drunk at a middle school. The man arrived late to work for some reason. Afterwards he got him to check him out and explain why he left early. The next day you sent me and a friend to spy on the other worker to tell him what they were doing. While they were painting book shelves, the man was relaxing at the lounge and eating his meal while he did all the work.
Johnny Inman, Witnessed a woman sitting somewhere in the work place talking in the phone as he did all the work. I had to take the trash out, sweep the floor, clean the sinks, clean the prep table, clean make table, and then finally mop the floor. But then again I just need to work hard and learn fast.

We all have agreed that most of these violations have been the same throughout all of our workplaces. For example, the number one rule from the sideroad.com site is to zip it meaning think before you say something that might get you in trouble. All of us have seen this and have seen people get fired for saying something small. We also noticed that its most of the new people or just immature people that make this mistakes. The third rule is to listen and not to dispute and some of us in this group will admit that we have violated this rule. Regardless if I was wrong I always like to get my side of the story out, but will always listen to what my manger has to say. It’s a respect thing.

The negative effect of having a sexual relationship in a work place is it can lead to harassment. Usually it is either the boss takes advantage of the situation by using his authority, like sex in exchange for promotion, or it can be the other way around, like a subordinate trying to seduce his or her boss in exchange for promotion. It breaks down professionalism in the work place, because no one trusts each other anymore. Instead of basing promotion on performance, it tends be based on sex. So doing it with someone you work with is a bad idea.

I actually went on Sideroad.com and all that was said is very true. I was actually was in a situation one time where me and a few of my co-workers were talking, the manager told us to quiet down and get back to work so we did. He came again with the same thing except this time he pulled me in his office but, why me out of all the other ladies. I felt as if he was being unfair because it was a group thing I didn't just stand there and talk all by my self.
Once we went into his office he completely went crazy and started yelling at me so, me being who I am I didnt take it and argued back. He ended up writing a warning and sent me home for the rest of the day. I do know now that it is better just to sit there and not argue but I felt like I was arguing for a pupose.

I went to sideroad.com and basically what has been said has been said furthermore anywhere else to just set up an environment of work friendly people. Theres a time and a place for everything. I, Jonathan, have experienced no matter how hard you work credit is only given to the ones who is seen. I was usually in the the dark while everyone else was just shining. If somebody does something wrong confrontation is usually what comes to mind but is not always the smartest. The person can become hostile and do something that you are not quite aware of and bam. Just tell a higher authority if you feel you need to.
